AI Singapore, launched in May 2017, is a significant national initiative that brings together Singapore-based research institutions and the AI ecosystem. It aims to anchor deep national capabilities in Artificial Intelligence, creating social and economic impacts. The program focuses on various aspects, including sustaining investments in fundamental AI research, ensuring Singapore's relevance in the global AI race. It also emphasizes building strategic capabilities, retaining and nurturing local scientific talents, and prepositioning the country for future applications. In the area of AI Governance, research is conducted on the governance, ethics, and accountability of AI systems at the national level, ensuring fairness, accountability, transparency, privacy, and ethics. AI Technology supports applied AI research projects aligned with the National AI Strategy, aiming to develop AI solutions with high social and economic impacts and address sector-wide or national-scale challenges. AI Innovation catalyzes and supports the widespread industry adoption of AI through talent and projects, as well as establishing AI standards and industry consortia. The AI Products team is creating easy-to-use, open-source, and freely available AI products, toolkits, and frameworks to accelerate the industry's adoption of AI. Overall, AI Singapore is a comprehensive program that covers multiple aspects of AI development and application, with the goal of putting Singapore on the global map of AI advancements.
